Recent Case Our Team Has Encountered
Dear visitors, clients, and anyone who comes across this article: your full attention is needed.
We hope what we are about to share will save you money, time, and nerve cells.
Here at Netrocket, we take pride in the fact that we’re among the most trustworthy inbound marketing agencies specializing in SEO, PPC, and social media services.
Long story short, in September, we were targeted by some malicious copycats who cloned our website on a fake domain to deceive unsuspecting users. You can read in more detail about this case here.
You might wonder why we are reminding you about this again?
We faced another form of scam that potentially can harm you. So we are here to prevent it.
Our one and only website is netrocket.pro — anything else is an imitation. The fake sites, such as netr0cket.com, or work.net-rkt.com, have nothing to do with us.
We also have nothing to do with any sort of crypto investment. These devious practices continue to grow; we want to arm you with the knowledge of how to be watchful and protected.
Our Stand Against Cyber Fraud
In the latest incident of fraud, the scammers used our logo, our content, and our reputation to try to peddle a cryptocurrency scheme. These not only amount to brand damage but also put financial risk to those who fall for such tricks.
Screenshots of Their Deceptive Website
Below are screenshots of their fake site, including a picture of what they claim is their “Customer Service” via Telegram. Please keep these images in mind if you ever encounter a suspicious page leveraging our branding. Remember, Netrocket will never contact you with requests to invest in cryptocurrency or money transfers, or with job offers related to that.
How Their Scam Scheme Works and How to Protect Yourself
Remember, folks, not all the gold that glitters. If it seems like it’s too good to be true – it probably is. Scammers go by the principle of creating a scenario for easy money earning: fat salaries, no interview, minimum time investment, and minting money by gallons.
These scam schemes thrive on trust and desperation, creating fake domains, forged credentials, and emotional manipulation to exploit people. In the case of scammers that copied our company website and content, even shared LinkedIn posts from our official account, to gain the trust of the potential victims:
But, think reasonably: would any company with a conscience bypass interviews or ask for investments upfront?
Protect yourself by verifying everything, from domain names to offers that seem like the easy way to earn money to calling official sources. Be sharp and double-check before deciding to invest your money and time anywhere.
Unfortunately, we received some messages from people who have already interacted with them. Here’s in more detail how their fraud scheme works (we are not revealing the name of the person who reported this for security reasons):
What to Do If You Encounter This Scam
If you ever come across this fraud website or anything suspicious that claims to represent Netrocket, here’s what you should do to keep yourself safe:
- Check the domain — if the domain of the website is not netrocket.pro, then it’s not our company, and we are not responsible for any kind of activities happening on the other web pages.
- Report the website as fraudulent — take a stand and report the source so that others don’t get victimized.
- Never invest — do not make any investment in response to such entities.
- Contact Cyberpolice — if you have had any interaction with them, report them immediately to your local cyberpolice unit.
When Cybersecurity Is the Only Shield
In a time when scams are virtually becoming sophisticated, cybersecurity is the ultimate guard. Protecting your digital footprint is not just key to companies but to individuals. Following are some proactive steps to safeguard yourself:
- Be skeptical: Any demand for money or investment, especially crypto-related ones, should raise an immediate flag.
- Verify domains and accounts: double-check that the domain name and contact information are correct. We said it before, and here’s the reminder: we are only at netrocket.pro.
- Enhance your online safety: consider enabling two-factor authentication, using secure passwords, and periodic software updates to ensure your information remains safe.
Fraud Combat from Netrocket
Meanwhile, we are in active contact with hosting providers and have initiated takedown procedures against these fraudulent sites. We already contacted CNCERT, which is China’s national network incident response team, which is responsible for countering cyber threats, responding to Internet security incidents, and helping to protect China’s infrastructure from cyber attacks.
Also, ICANN – (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is an international organization that manages the global Domain Name System (DNS) and addresses on the Internet.
ICANN can help you if fraudsters use a domain that infringes on your trademark rights. However, ICANN has no direct influence over the hosting or content of the site.
(We are not revealing the name of our colleague who reported this for security reasons):
Though our efforts somewhat keep at bay the spread of misinformation, we need your help to stay safe.
Please be vigilant: question unusual requests and report any suspicious activity.
Reminder: Cyber Awareness Is Power
The emergence of new cyber threats day in and day out explores and takes advantage of our increased dependence on digital interaction.
This, therefore, is a call for wakefulness, not to ourselves only but to all: cybersecurity is everybody’s responsibility. It’s a shield we hold together against those who lurk in the shadows of the internet, hoping to take advantage.
Remember that any website can be copied, and if you find a suspicious duplicate website that looks like Netrocket, please report it here:
So please, stay safe, recheck your interactions with suspicious websites, and remember that Netrocket has never asked you to invest in any cryptocurrencies or anything related to it.
This is a new case for our team, so this is a great reminder for all of us about the importance of cyber security. Stay tuned; we’ll keep you updated on this.
